April 17 & 18, 2010 Vibrant Landscapes: Colored Pencil, Wax & Oil Pastel -- Pat Averill

Many artists are overwhelmed by the complexity of a landscape and get lost in it before they even start! In this workshop, you will learn how to simplify a complicated scene and combine colored pencil with oil pastel and crayons to speed up the process and intensify colors. Pat will demonstrate each step -- from strokes and textures to how to examine colors, values and temperatures of light and shadow. You may work from reference photos provided or bring your own in this hands-on workshop. Pat's personal attention and critiques, along with structured exercises and discussions will guide you through the process. For beginners to Advanced.

"Luscious Flowers--an Intimate Vision in Colored Pencil" May 8-9, 2010 from 10am-4pm $100 This will be a close-up view of a flower with more of an abstract design, and Pat will guide you step by step.

"What Do I Do With Watercolor Pencils?" Saturday June 19, 2010 from 10am-4pm $60. Most of us gather art supplies like candy and then don't really know how to begin using them. This is your chance to learn easy ways to use water-soluble colored pencils in combination with dry colored pencils. You'll make a reference sheet of the techniques first, and then start working on a painting. Your imagination is your only limitation when using watercolor pencils!
